About The Jepettos

Jepetto created Pinocchio – the wooden boy who came to life. The Jepettos hope to bring life to their wooden instruments through the songs they create.

“Their first single ‘Goldrush’ is a swooning dream like ditty, peppered with lucid lyrics and twin vocals so sweet and heart warming, it’s like pouring a cup of hot chocolate directly into your ear.”Phil Taggart, BBC Across The Line

The fresh folk-lullaby sound of The Jepettos launched in Derry early this year. Influenced heavily by the airy vocals of Sufjan Stevens and the quirky lilt of Lisa Hannigan, this 5 piece woodwind and string ensemble is headed up by husband-wife songwriters Mike and Ruth whose collaboration creates a natural yet unpredictable sound.

Mike Aicken- Vocals, Guitar, Ukulele, Glockenspiel
Ruth Aicken- Vocals, Guitar, Ukulele, Melodica
Emma Flanagan- Clarinet, Glockenspiel
Michael Andrews/Colm Hinds- Bass
Daniel Kerr/Scott Jamison – Drums, Glockenspiel
Jonny Ashe – Electric guitar
LJ Hughes – Trumpet
Sarah Williamson – Oboe

Comparisons have been made to Civil Wars and Lisa Hannigan but as Rigsy from BBC Across the Line has put it ‘The Jepettos kinda sound like no one else’.
